Which NHS vaccines do we offer?

Under the NHS national programme we’re commissioned to deliver seasonal flu, COVID-19 and MenB vaccinations. Each is a quick visit (10–15 minutes) in a private consultation room – no GP referral needed when you’re eligible.

Who is eligible?

NHS eligibility is set centrally and varies by season – typically based on age (65+), clinical risk (diabetes, heart, lung, immunosuppression), pregnancy, or occupational role (health and care workers). MenB is free for Year 13s and new university starters under a one-off NHS programme. Not sure if you qualify? Pop in and we’ll check on the spot.

What happens at the appointment?

A brief consent and consultation (~5 minutes), the vaccine itself (~30 seconds), then 15 minutes monitoring. The vaccination is uploaded to your GP record the same day via the NHS pharmacy network.

NHS flu for children

Children get a nasal spray, not a needle.

The children’s flu vaccine (LAIV) is a quick squirt in each nostril – over in seconds, no injection, no plaster. It’s free on the NHS for eligible children, and vaccinating them protects the whole household: grandparents, baby siblings and classmates.

  • Ages 2–3 (age on 31 August 2026): vaccinated here at the pharmacy, from 1 October
  • Clinically at-risk children aged 2–17: from 1 October
  • School-aged children (Reception–Year 11): usually vaccinated at school - missed it? Catch up with us from 1 December

Does it hurt?

No – it’s a spray, not an injection. Most children barely notice; it’s done before they’ve finished asking about it.

Side effects?

A runny or blocked nose for a day or two is the most common. Serious reactions are rare.

Why vaccinate children?

Children catch and spread flu more than any other group, and the vaccine works especially well in them.

Yes for most NHS vaccines, but flu walk-ins are available during peak season. Booking confirms a slot in our private consultation room without waiting.

A sore arm, mild fever or tiredness for 1–2 days is common and means the vaccine is working. Severe reactions are rare – we monitor you for 15 minutes after the jab.

Yes – every NHS vaccination we deliver is uploaded to your GP record the same day via the NHS pharmacy network.

All four Oxford branches deliver NHS vaccinations. Stock and pharmacist availability vary by branch – booking confirms a slot with a named vaccinator.

Often yes – flu and COVID can usually be given together, for example. We’ll check guidance for the specific vaccines you need.
